⭐Reaching for the Stars

We had a hybrid meeting today, as usual. The theme of the meeting was “Reach for the Stars,” inspired by the recent launch of NASA’s Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope.🔭

We had one guest join us on-site. In keeping with the theme, our Grammarian chose “groundbreaking” as the Word of the Day. He announced the word a day before the meeting, which was helpful for members who wanted to learn and practice using it.

🎤 Prepared Speeches

We had two excellent prepared speeches, both based on the speakers’ personal experiences. The evaluators had many positive things to say about the speeches, while also offering a few suggestions for improvement, such as adding pauses and paying attention to posture.

As difficult as it may be, it is vital for speakers to receive both encouragement and constructive feedback so they can continue to grow and improve.

🔤My English Journey

The speaker had been good at English since her school days and participated in international exchange events at university. However, that experience changed the way she viewed her own English ability. From there, she took us through the next stages of her English journey.

👀Look again

The speaker described staying at the historic Tokyo Station Hotel and learning that a famous novelist stayed there, which changed the way he viewed the hotel. The speech showed us how learning about history can transform the way we see places and things around us.

🎲 Table Topics Session

Our Table Topics Master was well prepared. She came up with thoughtful questions inspired by the life of Nancy Grace Roman and displayed them on the screen. The questions were not only relevant to the theme but also interesting and relatable to all of us.

Normally, we have six Table Topics questions, but today she managed to ask seven! Our guest also took the opportunity to answer a question and completed his response within the given time.

At the end of the meeting, the winners were announced, and we took group photos to capture the moment.📸

It was another enjoyable and encouraging meeting—and a great reminder to keep reaching for the stars!🌟
